Change the Location of My Document's

I just found out about this today, and I use Windows XP for some time now, so I guess there are others out there who don't know about this yet.

But normally windows saves the "My Documents" folder on your Operating system installed drive. There some possibilities to change the My Documents folder location.

 Follow the steps below:

  • Right-click on My Document's and go to properties
  • There you can see Target tab, in that tab your old location of My document's is showed there.
  • In that you can change the location where you want windows to save your Documents folder.

If you have a partition set up with just windows on it, and all your things if you want to keep all are on different partitions/disks. So now you put My Documents on another partition than where you have windows installed. If windows screws up and you have to format your C-drive again, your documents will be saved safely and after installation you can change the location again to the path where your old documents are saved.
